Michael's Wish

This is a catalogue of things that I am doing at this stage in my life. "Less talk and more action" is my motto these days and I am getting things done.

My idea...to make the world go round.

It's simple really, create a service online where you can fulfill a wish. To make the world go round? I know it is a figure of speech or a cliche, but what do people really need? I pose that question because in our world today there is one logical answer. Money. I know some will argue that Love is all you need, others will list food, shelter, company etc. but without the green stuff then you do not have these things. It sounds shallow and one dimensional (even to me as I put these words together) but it is a fact of life.

There is another saying about money "it is the root of all evil". I think it is more who uses it than the money itself that is usually the problem. Hence, we come to my idea to use money as a way to fulfill everyone's wishes. Who best to get this money from? I hear you say. Well, simple really - from the people who knows you and care enough for you to contribute to your wishes. This way, even in some small part they can show you that you are important to them and are happy that you are going to get what you truly wish for. The catch is you don't get the money all the time, it is saved for very special events in our lives. Yes, birthdays are part of this list, so are weddings and new babies.

I know what I really want and that is to provide for my family and make sure that we are happy whatever we do. It is a very simple idea, to make sure people get what they truly wish for... what ever it may be.

Wishful thinking...

Have you ever wondered what life would be like without money worries? I know that I certainly have experienced wanting something or actually "needing" something and at that particular time in my life, I could not afford it. Sob, sob, sob...

Having immigrant parents have taught me that hard work is a pre-requisite to success. Success does not come overnight and is usually accompanied by a brilliant "idea". This "idea" should be followed by careful research, planning and backed by overwhelming belief and enthusiasm in what one is about to embark on. I believe that I have reached this stage in my life. I am ready to hatch something that will surely make my family secure, comfortable and hopefully happy.

It was one of those "What if?" situations that solidified when I eventually decided to visit an old university friend of mine. I will call her "Miss B". I called her one Monday night, early in Feb 2007 and asked if she is interested to join me in a start-up online venture. It was one of those spur of the moment things that took over me and I needed an outlet. I guess I have been thinking about this "wish idea" for a while and I have hundreds of these ideas either scribbled on a notebook somewhere or in my head. But this one is special, and no amount of sleep makes me forget.

I remember it was a Monday night after work that I visited Miss B and she showed as much enthusiasm as I had during our first discussions. I purely wanted to see her reaction to the idea and her excitement at the prospect of being part of my venture was my confirmation that I had approched the right person. You can visit her site on papel papel , this is her new website just launched today. She is one talented person and I am glad that she is on board with this big ad-venture that I want to undertake.

More details - next time about this big idea... stay tuned.
